Geographically, Uruguay is situated in the southern temperate zone of South America, bordering with Brazil in the north and separated from Argentina by the River Uruguay, in the west. The south follows a 500 km. coastline of beautiful beaches along the River Plate and the Atlantic Ocean.
Uruguay is a small agricultural country with 3 million inhabitants, 12 million head of beef cattle and 11 million sheep that graze freely in the green pampas year round. Obviously enough, meat and wool have been the main export products since the Spanish conquest in the early 1600s.
As of today, the port of Montevideo (the capital) has been the main harbour.
