History of Frigorifico Canelones1 S.A.
Many changes have occurred since the founding of the original company in 1946. At that time,
Granja Canelones began producing canned fruits and vegetables and processed cured meats. By 1960, it began a slaughter and processing operation of cattle under the name of
Frigorifico Canelones S.A..
In 1994 an important process of modernization and change, enabled the company to grow in size and scale, allowing its transformation into one of the largest and most modern beef processing plants in Uruguay. The main objective was to achieve increased beef exports.
By the end of October of 2002, one of the partners, Mr. Richard D. Spradling representing the IFP group, purchased 100% of the shares of Frigorifico Canelones S.A. The change in ownership re-defined the objectives of modernization and satisfying demand.
Since then, the focus has been in promoting the growth of the company, through the development of new products and concentrating on quality added value food products.
This evolution to a specialized food company was responsible for the change of the company name to Canelones Foods S.A. in the year 2005.
